On 31st Jan 2018, everybody in the world was waiting to watch the super blood blue moon (lunar eclipse). There was a lot of hullabaloo about this
super blood blue moon in my office and everybody wanted to see this astronomical event live. I along with my colleagues went on to the top floor of our office building to watch this event. We reached almost half an hour before the event time.
Everybody was eagerly waiting for the phenomenon to appear. It was interesting to see people guessing the location of the event to happen.
Some were saying, it will appear right opposite of the sunset location. Some were saying, keep looking at the horizon line. While explaining the
phenomenon, some technical experts went into discussion of ‘Umbra’ and ‘Penumbra’ concepts of the eclipse. Oh my God, for a while I felt like
I’m back in School 🙂
It was almost an hour, but nothing was appearing in the sky. On lighter side, people who had captured photos of the bright sunset, started posting
the same on Whats App as lunar eclipse. After few more minutes around
7.35 pm, we could see a half ring around the moon. But that too was not
clear due to hazy weather in Mumbai.
Most of the people were disappointed. But there were few people who were still trying to capture the rare eclipse through their mobile camera. I too was disappointed and went to the other side of the terrace. I was awestruck to see the glittering view of Mumbai from this high-rise building. It was a spectacular view I had ever seen in my life. I tried capturing some views through my mobile camera.
Although, I missed the super blood blue moon phenomenon, these glittering views of Mumbai made my day 🙂
Mumbai is the best 🙂 have a look at some of the pics captured by me.
