Modakutsav 2019, the title itself makes you imagine variety of mouth watering modak dishes. Last Sunday, I attended one such Modakutsav along with my better half, Varsha. She was one of the participants in the modaks making competition.
As a part of Ganesh Festival celebration, this Modakutsav was organised by Subhedarwada Katta in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club of Kalyan. There were around 100+ participants from Kalyan, Mumbai, Nashik and Pune.
The organisers were also overwhelmed with such a good response received for this competition from different age groups of women. It was interesting to see all participants who came so well prepared with their modaks and decoration materials to be displayed for the competition.
I was impressed with the readiness and quality of modaks prepared with creative mindset. There were variety of modaks such as chocolate modaks, rava modaks, coconut mava modaks, fried modaks, dry fruits modaks, ukdiche modaks with different ingredients than the normal grated coconut and jaggery mixture filling.
In addition to the different types, there were modaks with different flavours too such as rose, mango and paan. Every participant had unique modaks to present. Varsha prepared modaks with ingredients consisting of 21 vegetables, totally class apart modaks.
Surprisingly, she bagged third prize for this nutritious modaks concept. She was very happy with the award and the different level of experience gained while participating in such competition. I’m proud of her achievement and I always admire her simplicity and uniqueness in whatever she does.
Congratulations Varsha and all other winners of Modakutsav 2019.
I too enjoyed the competition as a spectator and tried mobile photography during the event.
Here some pics captured by me during this event.
