Shri Kshetra Narsinhwadi

Shri Kshetra Narsinhwadi is a holy place of Hindus located at the confluene of Krishna and Panchganga rivers near about 50 Kilometers from Kolhapur. This place is considered as highly sacred because the Shri Narsinh Saraswati (1378-1495), the second incarnation of Lord Dattatreya stayed here for 12 years. This place is also known as Narsobawadi or Narsobachiwadi.

This year, I had planned to visit the Shri Kshetra Narsinhwadi along with my family as we visit Shri Mahalaxmi Temple every year. Narsobadiwadi is just 90 mins from Mahalaxmi Temple. Last month, we visited Kolhapur as our annual pilgrimage. After taking darshan of Shri Mahalaxmi, we headed towards Narsobawadi in a private vehicle. Being summer time, it was very hot in Kolhapur.

Kids were very tired and feeling hungry too during the road journey. It was almost 12.45 pm. We decided to have lunch before taking the darshan. Our driver recommended Vaman Bhojnalay in the market. It’s famous for Maharashtrian Brahmin style food. We enjoyed their unlimited Veg Thali. The thali was less spicy with delicious Baingan bharta and Chavlichi Usal. We just loved it.

The temple was near from the market. As soon as we reached the temple area, the scenic beauty and pleasant weather surprised us. The temple is on the banks of the river surrounded by Audumber trees. After taking darshan of Padukas of Shri Narsinha Saraswati which are kept in the temple and sitting for some time at place outside the temple, we decided to take the boat ride so that we could enjoy the beauty of this area.

Luckily we were only family in the boat and we got enough space to seat comfortably. The view of the temple looks very beautiful from the midst of the river. Some people were taking the holy bath on banks of the river and some were enjoying their swim in the river.

After enjoying the boat ride, we sat on the steps on the banks of the river for more time and had a nice time looking at the river and its surroundings. We also spent some time in the market while buying sweets and holy books. It was nice to visit this holy place. If you are in Kolhapur, then make sure to plan your trip to Narsobachi Wadi.

Here are some photos captured during this trip.
