As every year, this year also Ganesh Festival was celebrated with full of joy and enthusiasm by all devotees/bhakts of Ganpati Bappa across India. There were heavy rains during this festive season. Most of the pandals/mandaps were less crowded as compared to the previous years.
In Kalyan too there were less people seen at various ganesh pandals. I along with my family visited different pandals in very famous areas of Kalyan such as Shivaji Chowk, Tilak Chowk, Shubhedarwada, Parnaka, Joshi Baug, Ram Baug, Kala Talao and Beturkar pada.
All pandals were beautiful decorated with their unique bappa idol. Some pandals had theme based decoration such as social, educational, historical and environment related. Kids were happy to see such theme based decorations with some good messages.
In one of pandals they showed Bal Ganesh waiting for kids in a open ground to play whereas kids were trapped in a mobile web busy with mobile games and apps. The theme was move away from mobile world and come on open ground to play outdoor games.
In other pandal, they showed how local tourists are damaging various historical forts by throwing empty plastic bottles, leaving used plastic food packets and empty liquor bottles. Unmarried couples writing their names in big letters on walls of the fort, as if it’s their own property.
It was a nostalgic moment for me as I have grown up watching such social/ educational/historical/environment based decorations during Ganesh festival since my childhood in Mumbai. Such theme based pandals decoration are attractive and creates awareness in society.
On the Visarjan day, we reached late night to Ganesh Ghat of Kalyan. Again we could see most of the Ganpati Bappas of Kalyan and Ulhasnagar brought here for the immersion. It was an emotional moment as our beloved bappa was leaving us and finally it was time to say…
‘Ganpati Bappa Morya Pudchya Varshi Lavkar Ya’ 🙏 🙏 🙏
