Female dhol-tasha pathaks adds flavour to Navrati festival

As the Navrati festival starts today, Goddess Durga arrives across cities of India to bless her devotess. I captured some photos of the Goddess Durga arrival today in Kalyan.

In one of such arrival processions of Goddess Durga, it was nice to capture the female dhol-tasha pathak/group leading the procession with zestful beats. Their white and blue attire with huge dhols/drums was looking beautiful.

Every drummer was matching the beat of the group. Their dedication and passion for playing the Dhol was seen in the procession. Such drummer groups
are most popular during Navrati and Ganesh Festival.

The Dhol-tasha groups once male-dominated musical domain is now slowing being taken over by the female dhol-tasha pathaks. It seems that the combination of beauty and talent is appreciated by crowd during the Navrati festival.

Wishing you all a very Happy Navrati 🙂

Here are some pics captured by me.
