The Kalyan-Dombivli region is well known for bird watching in Thane district of Maharashtra. In Kalyan there are known birding spots where various birds can be spotted. These spots includes Kalyan creek, Ganesh ghat, Gandhari area, Barave village and Godrej hill area. There is one more area which is not yet known for bird watching as such. It’s a road between Radhanagar and Wayale nagar. You can see various trees on both sides of this road which becomes a resting area for birds coming from surrounding areas in search of food.

In this area, during winter season, you can spot birds such as Common tailorbird, Red-vented bulbuls, Purple-rumbed sunbirds, White breasted fantail, Parrots, Asian koel (cuckoos) and Common mynas. If you are lucky enough, you’ll get to see birds such as Indian golden oriole, Coppersmith barbet, Black Drongo and Shikra.

Here are some photos of birds spotted by me in this area.
