Jungle Myna

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

One day, I was surprised to see a Jungle Myna on the fig tree near my building. I quickly grabbed my camera and went near the window to capture some close-up shots. The myna was sitting on a big branch and trying to eat the fig fruit. I couldn’t see the entire body of the bird, only the  upper part of the body was visible.

The orange bill colour was appearing beautiful on the entire greyish-black body. And the interesting part was the forehead which comprise of some small feathers arising at the base of the bill. I was waiting for the bird to hop on to another branch so that I could take some good shots. However, it was a day of just facial poses which I could manage to capture.

Accordingly to Wikipedia, the Jungle Myna (Acridotheres fuscus) is a Myna, a member of the starling family found in tropical southern Asia from Nepal, Bangladesh, India. The bird is omnivorous, feed mainly on insects, fruit and seeds. The calls of the jungle myna are higher pitched than those of the common myna[1].

It was interesting to capture the different poses. Here are some shots captured by me. Hope to capture some better shots next time.
